Wireless Internet Access

If you have a wireless enabled device, you can access the Internet at all HCLS branches. To use your wireless device, please see the instructions below. When you use the Internet in the library, you are accepting the library's Internet and Computer Use Policy. Please take time to read the policy before accessing the network.

You can now print from your wireless laptop. (Only at the Gainesville Branch)

Download and Install the print client

Currently wirless printing is only available at the Gainesvill branch of the Hall County Library System. To take advantage of this feature just click on the link above and download the print client. Accept the client agreement and begin printing. A window will be minimized in your start menu which houses the print client if you close the window you will need to download and install the print client again.

NOTE: Library staff cannot assist you with your device, wireless card, or configuration. We cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment.

Advantages:

  • No waiting for a free PC
  • No enforced time limits...connect as long as you like
  • Spread out at a larger table in a quieter area of the building
  • Fast access
  • Download files
  • Save your files permanently on your own device
  • Print from your own Laptop (Only currently available at Gainesville Branch)

Limitations:

  • Mac computers cannot connect to the wirless printer.
  • Electrical outlets not available everywhere
Wireless Technical Notes:
  • Your device must conform to the 802.11b standard.
  • You must know how to set up a network or wireless profile using the software on your device.
  • Your battery should be charged. Electrical outlets are not available in all areas of the library.
  • Wireless software usually includes an indicator that displays signal strength. Make sure the link quality is at least "good." If not, move about the library to locate a stronger signal quality.
  • Some devices have a physical switch (very small) that must be turned on in order to connect to wireless networks.
  • Make sure DHCP is enabled or on.
