Activities for Children
and Their Families

The library has three 6-week sessions during the school year of Preschool Storytime at the Gainesville, Blackshear Place, Murrayville, and Clermont branches and infant lapsits (Baby Steps Storytimes) at the Gainesville, Blackshear Place, and Murrayville Branches.

The Reading Patch Club for independent readers in kindergarten through 5th grade runs from the day after Labor Day through the day before the Memorial Day holiday. Jump Start Reading Club for children 0-5 who cannot read on their own yet also runs from the day after Labor Day through the day before the Memorial Day holiday. The library also provides other school year programming for children as funds are available.

Pajama Storytimes are held at the Gainesville and Blackshear Place branches once a month all year (as holiday schedules permit). Call the branch for verification.

During the summer, Summer Reading Program and related activity programs are held in all branches and mini-sessions of preschool and Baby Steps storytimes are held in June and August.

Summer Reading Program 2009 runs from June 1 through July 24, 2009. Register in any branch beginning June 1. Also, check out the photo page to see pictures from 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 activity programs.

For more information about children's programming, call any library branch or 770-532-3311, ext. 129.
